Mark Bowden

Asset Manager

Mark Bowden joined Jersey Water in February 2016 in the role of Asset Manager.  He is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the company’s reservoirs, the delivery of engineering projects, and is responsible for managing the company’s land and property assets.  Mark is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Water and Environmental Management and has spent 18 years working in the UK water industry and has expertise in many aspects of water resources, water treatment and supply.  He is passionate about balancing the need for public water supplies with sustainability and the needs of the environment.  He works closely with the Water Supply Department and Laboratory function on all aspects of water quality and the development and delivery of the capital investment programme

William Church

Director of Sales and Marketing

A farmer’s son from the South coast of England, William graduated from the Royal Agricultrual College, Cirencester in 2004 with a degree in International Agribusiness Management.

He entered a training programme with Management Development Services before joining Zwetsloots, a flower packing company on a permanent basis working first in Spain and then Zimbabwe in a business development role.

Following 18 months back in England, he then moved to set up an organic business on behalf of Langmead farms outside Chichester, and moved to the Island to work for Jersey Produce Marketing Organisation in 2002.

William is a Chartered Marketer and Chartered PR Practitioner and is the Director of Sales and Marketing for The Jersey Royal Company.

Paul Stanfield

Catchment Delivery Manager

Paul Stanfield is a Hydrogeologist who has worked in the water industry for over 25 years.  Initially working on groundwater development, his role has changed to cover raw water quality management.  As Catchment Delivery Manager for Wessex Water, Paul now leads the innovative catchment management work that the water company has pioneered.  His team of nine agriculturally trained and experienced advisers and technicians engage proactively with catchment farmers to reduce agriculturally derived water quality issues and have built a strong reputation within the water and farming industry nationally.  Paul also manages the StreamClean team which investigates misconnections between foul and surface water sewage.  This prevents environmental pollution and has helped the water company avoid prosecution for 3rd party derived issues.

Dr Charles Fox

Dr Charles Fox is Director of Ibex Automation Ltd and led the InnovateUK Agri-tech IBEX2 autonomous robot weed spraying project. Dr Fox grew up on a family dairy farm near Sheffield where he still occasionally milks the cows. He studied Computer Science at Cambridge, obtained his DPhil from the Robotics Research Group, Oxford, worked as a London high-frequency hedge fund trader, and is preparing to take up a Senior Lectureship in Robotics and Automation at the University of Lincoln. He has published 50 papers on robotics, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition.

Dr Jude L Capper, PhD

Dr Jude Capper, Ph.D. is an independent Livestock Sustainability Consultant based in Oxfordshire, UK, who undertook her BSc (Agriculture with Animal Science) and PhD (Ruminant Nutrition and Behaviour) at Harper Adams University College (UK), followed by post-doctoral research at Cornell University (USA) and a faculty position at Washington State University (USA).

Jude's research focuses on modeling the environmental impact of livestock production systems, specifically dairy and beef. This includes quantifying improvements in environmental and economic impacts made by improving livestock productivity or adopting differing management practices or systems.

Jude’s professional goal is to communicate the importance of factors affecting livestock industry sustainability to enhance the knowledge and understanding of food production stakeholders from the rancher and farmer through to the retailer, policy-maker and consumer. She has an active social media presence and spends a considerable amount of time de-bunking some of the more commonly-heard myths relating to resource use and the environmental impact of livestock production. To this end, she was awarded “Dairy Industry Woman of the Year 2017.”

Tony Taylor

Tony became a non-executive director of the Jersey Milk Marketing Board last year. Born and educated in Jersey, Tony’s professional career has been in the advertising industry, working for leading global agencies, based in the UK and Asia. He has worked with numerous blue-chip clients, including Heinz, Heineken, Bayer, Land Rover, Kraft, Volkswagen, Nokia and Nestle. Tony is currently a Regional Director of J. Walter Thompson, a Director of Jersey Sport and an NED at Jersey Electricity. He holds a degree in psychology from the City University, London.

 

Scott Meadows

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR RURAL ECONOMY & HEAD OF PLANT HEALTH

Scott Meadows graduated in Applied Plant Science in 1996, then in Applied Entomology in 1997 at Imperial College, London. Since 1998, Scott has worked for the States of Jersey originally as Entomologist, then Laboratory Manager and now as Assistant Director, Rural Economy & Head of Plant Health.
